Gateway Laptops Are Second To None

When you are out looking to buy a laptop, what is one of the first names that comes to mind? Well if you said Gateway Laptops then good for you; if not, you do not know what you are missing. Gateway Laptops are great, not only in looks, but in their power. These laptops can do everything a normal computer can do, and in some cases more than what a normal computer can do. Getting yourself some Gateway Laptops means that you are buying the best for your money. Of course, just like any great things, there are a few bad things as well, however, make no mistake, these are the best you can get. I mean, you are going to have bad things about any laptop you buy.

Gateway Laptops

I feel like there is so many good things to say about Gateway Laptops, that I do not know where to start. First of all, let’s start with the great prices. Unlike some other laptops, the Gateway Laptops are second to none. They come at a good price, and you really do get your money’s worth out of it. Also, these are laptops you are going to have around for a long time. You see, many laptops that you go out and buy are going to break down after a little bit of time.

The Gateway Laptops are going to keep trucking long after it is time to get a new one. I think that is one great thing about them. I want a laptop that I can buy and know that everyday when I get up to use it, it is going to start right up. I also have to say that the battery life on most Gateway Laptops is very good. They seem to last a lot longer than any other laptops out on the market. In fact, if you are sitting next to a guy that has a different laptop (and they are both fully charged) the Gateway Laptops seem to always win. This is great because you feel like you do not have to stay right next to a wall. Many laptops have to spend so much time hooked up to the wall that it becomes more like a desktop PC than a laptop, however, like I said earlier, with the good comes the bad, and this is true for Gateway Laptops as well.

Packard Bell EasyNote MB88 P-003 Limited Edition

Some budget laptops are hefty and rather lumpen. Packard Bell’s Limited Edition Easy Note MB88 P-003, by comparison, looks dainty and, indeed, weighs a fairly modest 2.6kg.

The Packard Bell EasyNote MB88 P-003 Limited Edition is the middle one of the three-strong Limited Edition range and has a ‘sunny’ orange accent running along the groove of the case exterior and on either side of the main unit.

Another notable feature is the glowing white light strip halfway down the free area below the Packard Bell EasyNote MB88 P-003 Limited Edition’s good-sized, comfortable keyboard. We’re not sure what this contributes, save for a talking point, but it can be turned off should it prove too distracting.

Packard Bell EasyNote MB88 Specifications:

  • Chassis dimensions - 360x265x37mm
  • Weight - 2.6Kg
  • CPU Model - Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5450 (Cache 2MB, Bus Speed 667MHZ)
  • Motherboard Chipset - Intel 965PM
  • Installed memory - 2048MB DDR2
  • HDD – 160GB
  • Card reader - 4 in 1 card reader
  • Optical drive - DVD+/-R9
  • Graphics Chipset - NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600 M GS upto 1279MB Turbo cache
  • Screen Internal resolution - 1280×800
  • Monitor size - 15.4″ inch with Diamondveiw

The light strip bisects the Packard Bell EasyNote MB88 P-003 Limited Edition’s generous circular touchpad, which Packard Bell has positioned off-centre. This arrangement works, however, as the main keyboard has a numeric companion pad to its right, meaning the touchpad and the long selector paddle below it are dead-centre of your qwerty setup.

MSI PR210 Laptop Review

The first sign that this notebook is serious about work is that it comes with a fingerprint reader, so instead of entering a password to log on, you can set it up to recognise a fingerprint to grant access. It’s good for those carrying sensitive information and for anyone who can never remember their passwords.

This notebook will fit into any standard backpack and its weight, which is about the same as a large hardback book, means you do not have to be a contender for the title of World’s Strongest Person to carry it around.

Fortunately the keyboard and mouse touchpad do not suffer from the PR210′s diminutive size and we were impressed at how easy both were to use. The keyboard, although smaller than average, was stable and easy to type on – almost as comfortable as a standard-sized one. The computer’s battery protrudes a little at the bottom, propping up the keyboard at a slight angle, which can make typing easier.

The touchpad, which was bigger than we expected, was extremely smooth, making navigation easy and dispelling any need for an external mouse, something that’s often a necessity when using a notebook PC.

Gateway MT6724b Laptop Review

This 15in notebook computer is designed to be something that can be used by everyone at home, from parents emailing and working, to children using the internet and playing games. It uses a Pentium Dual Core T2310 processor which runs at 1.47GHz. That’s a reasonable speed, which is fast enough for most of the tasks for which this computer’s going to be used, but if you try to edit video or play recent games the MT6724b might start to struggle. It comes with 2GB of memory, which certainly helps, and which helped the computer to a decent showing in our lab testing.

The Intel graphics processor, which is contained on the motherboard rather than on a separate graphics card, is reasonably capable again, and comes with 128MB of its own memory, as well as being able to borrow 230MB from the aforementioned 2GB if it’s dealing with a fast computer game, for instance.

Overall performance was fine, though, and certainly for general day-to-day use it’s perfectly capable. Playing back a DVD didn’t present a problem, either, and nor did the built-in Windows Media Center software which can be used with a TV tuner to watch and record programmes.

That said, that’s still an incredible price for a new laptop, especially one that doesn’t look like it came out of the Fisher Price factory in the 1980s. Built for basic Web browsing and simple day-to-day use, the 4G model of the Eee PC weighs just 0.92kg, and comes with 512MB of DDR2 RAM, a 4GB solid state disk, wireless LAN and a 7in screen…

Western Digital yesterday announced it is now shipping its new Western Digital Scorpio WD3200BEVT 2.5-inch notebook HDD with 320GB of storage capacity (Hard Drive requires a SATA interface).

WD Scorpio WD3200BEVT 320GB Laptop Hard Drive

Scorpio WD3200BEVT 320GB – With 5400 RPM spin speed and 12 ms access time, even the most demanding customer will appreciate the performance achieved by Western Digital Scorpio hard drives.

WD’s exclusive WhisperDrive™ combines state-of-the-art seeking algorithms to yield one of the quietest 2.5-inch laptop hard drives on the market. These algorithms also optimize the way a drive seeks for data, which significantly improves power consumption. So now silence (and longer battery life) is golden.

WD’s ShockGuard™ technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. WD’s SecurePark™ parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long term reliability due to less head wear, and improved non- operational shock tolerance.

Western Digital Scorpio 2.5-inch laptop hard drives offer high-performance, low power consumption and cool operation, making them ideal for laptop computers and other portable devices.

Toshiba is bringing back its Satellite Pro line of notebook computers, which are geared towards small businesses. The latest models are designed to meet the demands of business professionals who want multimedia features but don’t want to pay over $1K. The Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 and Toshiba Satellite Pro A210 will load Intel and AMD processors, respectively, and start at $699.

These are the first Satellite Pro models Toshiba has introduced to the US market since 2003. Presumably, the return of the Toshiba Satellite Pro line was spurred by the introduction of small-biz competitors like the Dell Vostro and HP Compaq machines.
